UPSC Issues Notification for Combined Medical Services (CMS) Exam 2017

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Wednesday had announced the date and process for applying in Combined Medical Services (CMS) Examination 2017 on its official website.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Wednesday, 26th April 2017 has announced the date and process for applying in Combined Medical Services (CMS) Examination 2017 on its official website.

The last date to submit the application form online is 19th May 2017 before 6 pm. The computer-based test for the recruitment shall be tentatively held on August 13, 2017. The results of the online examination shall be declared in the month of September or October 2017.

Around 710 vacancies are to be filled through this examination.

Eligibility:

The Eligibility Conditions as put forward by UPSC for CMS 2017 can be divided into three parts.

  1. Nationality
  • Citizen of India
  • Bhutan Citizenship
  • Nepal Citizenship
  • Tibetan refugees who came before 1 January 1962 to India with the intention to permanently settle in India.
  • People who have migrated from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma or East African countries like Kenya, The United Republic of Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Ethiopia and Zaire or from Vietnam with the intention to permanently settle in India.
  1. Age limit

In general, the aspirants must be between 17 years to 32 years as on January 1 in the year of the CMS examination.

However, UPSC government has provided age relaxation for the reserved categories.

Ex-Servicemen, Commissioned Officers including Short Service Commissioned Officer (SSCOs), Emergency Commissioned Officer (ECOs) who worked for at least 5 years and have left the assignment with conclusion5 years

  1. Educational Qualification

  • The candidate should have qualified all the written and practical exams of MMBS
  • The candidate in the final year of MBBS may apply, provided they are able to submit the required documents at the time of interview.

Candidate should fulfill the above criteria, though the verification with reference to original documents is taken up only after he/she has qualified for Interview or Personality test. Failure to the same will lead to cancellation of the application.

Application procedure:

  • Fill the online application form on the official website. Be careful, no changes will be allowed after submitting the form
  • The form contains two part,
  1. Part I registration consists of basic information.
  2. In Part-II Registration, the candidate will have to fill up payment details, upload the photograph and signature, choose the examination centre.

Aspirants shall be issued an e-admit card 3 weeks before the commencement of the exam. The candidate can then download the admit card from the official website.
