The WBTET (West Bengal Teacher Eligibility Test) notification will be released by the Education Department of West Bengal soon. One of the major reasons for the delay in the release of WBTET notification is lack of clarity on the exact number of vacancies in government schools across the state. Education Minister of West Bengal, Mr. Partha Chatterjee revealed that the education department is in the process of figuring out the exact number of vacancies in government schools. The state government will soon take a call on conducting WBTET examination, he added.
Education Minister of West Bengal further added that the state government would examine the student-teacher ratio in government primary schools across the state. After calculating the teacher-student ratio, the education department will get clarity on the exact number of vacancies in government schools across the state.

WBPEB (West Bengal Primary Education Board) will allow only those candidates who have completed two-year teachers’ training programme and 50% of marks in Higher Secondary examination for WBTET examination. However, the above eligibility norm is applicable only to primary teacher posts. More details about WBTET eligibility criteria will be released soon.
WBTET notification will be released on the official websites of West Bengal Primary Education and Secondary Education boards. The online application process for WBTET will be conducted through these websites.
