AYUSH Minister Lays Foundation for National Institute of Homeopathy in Delhi

Shripad Yesso Naik, Union Minister of State laid the foundation of National Institute of Homeopathy (NIH) in Narela, located outside Delhi. The new institute is an extension ofNational Institute of Homoeopathy Kolkataand would be established on 10-acre land. According to him, Homoeopathy is gaining popularity across the globe and a new NIH in NCR will provide more students with a chance to pursue a career in the same.

In order to streamline the admission process in AYUSH institutions and to ensure that meritorious students secure a seat in AYUSH streams, the ministry has decided that the admission process into AYUSH undergraduate courses will be on the basis ofNEETmerit list released by CBSE.

For postgraduate courses, however, a national-level entrance exam - All India Post Graduate Entrance Test (AIPGET) will be conducted.

The National Institute of Homeopathy (NIH) Narela will be a 100 bedded hospital and a centre of excellence in quality education and research. The institute will only focus on Postgraduate and Ph.D courses in seven disciplines. The intake of Ph.D courses will be 10 students per year. This will help fill the gap in high-quality research and treatment in the field of Homoeopathy. The estimated cost of the project is around Rs. 302 crores.

The institute will offer PG courses in seven subjects and it will have seven students per department per academic year. The intake of Ph.D. students will be ten students per academic year, according to sources. The hospital's OPD department will consist of general & specialist wards.
