Big Four to Intensify Hiring Meritorious Students from IIMs to Enhance Consulting Process

The Big Four accounting firms consisting of KPMG, Deloitte, Ernst & Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) are planning to recruit more students from Indian Institutes of Management to enhance their consulting practice. Among them, EY will double the intake by providing a high number of employment opportunities to the students of IIMs. It is expected that Big Four will hire at least 250-300 students across various IIM campuses to enhance their consulting practice.

The push came from the audit firms which are planning to expand their advisory and consulting business considerably. All these Big Four companies are exceptionally superior in auditing and taxation fields, and now they are venturing into consulting or advisory activities on par with McKinseys and BCGs of the world.

One of the advisories or the leaders of Big Four indicated that they are in search of talent who can place the firms in a strategic manner. Hence, they are going to recruit talented students from IIMs. EY will recruit additional 60-70 students this year. The hiring is mostly based on performance improvement and transaction advisory. The company will visit some of the IIMs which includeLucknow,Kozhikode, Bangalore,KolkataandIndore.

Sapna Agarwal, Head of Career Development Services,IIM Bangaloreexplained that the students from IIM-B are interested in counting jobs rather than pure audit. The students will evince keen interest in placements as these companies are offering jobs in consulting.
