The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, also known as IIMC, was founded as the first national institution for postgraduate studies and administrative research by the Government of India in November 1961. It was established in partnership with the Alfred P. Sloan School of Management (MIT), the Government of West Bengal, the Ford Foundation and Indian industries. IIM Calcutta NIRF ranking 2024 has been declared. IIMC has ranked 5th in the management category.

State Scholarship:

• This IIM Calcutta scholarship facility is provided to the students by schemes under the Kolkata government, and the university ensures that deserving students receive the same.
• Targeted specifically at those students who belong to the SC, ST, EWS, PWD, etc. communities, the extent of tuition fees waived off will depend on the scores secured in CAT exam.
• These scholarships can be availed by visiting the admission desk of the university and providing them with the necessary personal and academic details.
• Students will also be able to renew the scholarships for the second year, provided their performance during the first-year semesters was consistent.

Debating Society

The debating society at this university was formed in order to encourage a healthy exchange of ideas among the students, about the various important happenings around the world. This club regularly organises various debating competitions and even participates in inter-college events.

Cultural Club

The cultural club at the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta consists of numerous students who are very talented in various cultural domains such as singing, dancing, theatre, etc., who organise a multitude of cultural events during the course of the academic years. They also regularly convene to practice their various art forms and thereby engage in activities outside of the academic realm.
