Department of Technical Education to Revise Polytechnic Syllabus
It is currently waiting for permission to be granted by the Department of Higher Education. Once it gives a nod, the DTE will proceed with the revision, which will be implemented in 2020-2021.
The Department of Technical Education (DTE) is all set to make new changes in the textbooks for the polytechnic students in State colleges. This is to prepare the polytechnic students for the competitive world and make them industry-ready.
The DTE recently wrote to the Higher Education Department wherein it asked for permission to revise the textbooks.

It is currently waiting for permission to be granted by the Department of Higher Education. Once it gives a nod, the DTE will proceed with the revision, which will be implemented in the next academic year which is 2020-2021. The textbooks were last revised in the year 2015.
According to reports, the State has more than 44 aided, 82 State-run Polytechnic colleges and 174 unaided polytechnical colleges.
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) made a model curriculum which the universities should take on. This has been released for nine courses and the AICTE also informed that the curriculum is the need of the hour and it has been made according to the needs of the industry.
An official said that people from the industry will be engaged for the inputs that help them to design the new syllabus. Adding to that, officials also mentioned that certain changes include adding new topics related to industry and dropping a few concepts.
The department informed that the curriculum will be revised every three to five years to make sure it meets the requirements of the industry.
