DU Admissions 2017: Off-Campus College Campuses Witness a Sharp Drop in Cut-Offs

Delhi University’s off-campus colleges witnessed a significant drop in the cut-off percentages. The University of Delhi released the second cut-off list late on June 30, 2017.PGDAV Collegeis the best example for the sharp drop in cut-offs. The cut-off for Computer Science was 98% in the first cut-off list, and the course saw a major drop of 5% in the second cut-off list. Besides PGDAV College, various other DU colleges likeBR Ambedkar College,Motilal Nehru Collegeand others witnessed a major drop in cut-off by 2% to 9% in some specific courses. Since there are a high number of applications this year, there has not been any major difference between the first cut-offs and second cut-offs in other popular colleges.

Colleges likeLSRandHindu Collegeclosed the applications after filling the seats with the first cut-off. One of the reasons for the drop in the cut-offs for off-campus colleges is that most of the colleges are located in the outskirts of Delhi. These colleges are not well connected to the metro. Therefore, these colleges are not enrolling enough number of students. Few courses offered by these colleges have less popularity.

Aditi Mahavidyalayais another example which witnessed a drastic fall in the cut-offs. The cut-off for B.A Social Work (Hons.) course reduced from 88% to 80%. B.A Hindi Journalism is another course where the cut-off mark has been reduced from 80% to 75%. Geography course also witnessed a drop by 3% in the second cut-off list.

Popular courses like History and Political Science also witnessed a drop by 4% and 3% atBhagini Nivedita College. Other the other hand, the cut-offs for Science courses also reduced by 3% to 5% in some of the off-campus colleges.
