Foundation Stone of Regional Institute of Education, Andhra Pradesh to be Laid on December 27, 2016
The HRD Ministry will be starting a new Regional Institute of Education at Nellore in Andhra Pradesh today, December 27, 2016.
The HRD Ministry will be starting a new Regional Institute of Education at Nellore in Andhra Pradesh today, December 27, 2016. The foundation-stone for the institution will be laid down collectively by Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar and Union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu. Other prominent ministries and dignitaries will also be present at the occasion.

Central Government’s apex body, NCERT has five RIEs in India at Mysore, Ajmer, Bhubaneswar, Shillong and Bhopal. The new RIE is being started to enhance the School and Teacher Education in the region. This institute will not only benefit Andhra Pradesh but will also be a boon for neighboring states & Union Teriitories of Telegana, Pudduchery, Tamil Nadu, etc.
Teaching education programmes such as B.Sc/ BA, M. Ed, B. Ed, Ph. D., etc. will be offered by the new RIE at Nellore. It will also indulge in research and development of resource materials related to school and education of teachers. This will further help in enhancing the capacity of Teachers and Teacher Educators.
The institute will also help in implementing the schemes introduced by the Government of India such as SSA, ICT, RMSA, ICT, etc. in various schools. It will also cater to the educational requirements of the state.

The institute has been started after the initiation by Andhra Pradesh Government. The state government had offered free of cost land for the institute. Close to 50 acres of land was given for the development of the institute.
