Haryana to Get First National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Centre
An interesting thing about the varsity is that free education will be provided to the students belonging to Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes.
According to the information given by an official spokesperson, National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) will soon come up in Haryana. It is the first IT varsity that has been granted approval for the state of Haryana. The main objective behind establishing this varsity is to make the youth acquainted with new technology enabling them to further enhance their employability.

An interesting thing about the varsity is that free education will be provided to the students belonging to Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes (STs and SCs). The varsity is being established by Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. It will be developed in the Government Polytechnic College which is located in a village called Umri, Kurukshetra. For the next three years, the varsity will function in Government Polytechnic College.

One of the officials said that the success of the project depends on the time that will be taken to complete the construction of the entire campus. The state government of Haryana will provide land for the establishment of NIELIT and the central government will grant funds for the project.
NIELIT will come up with more than 15 short-term courses through which technical training will be imparted to students. On the other hand, the institute will also offer basic skills development courses which are of one year, six months and four weeks durations. Through these courses, the youth will be acquainted with new technology, the ministry believes.
Currently, there are 35 centres across the country which are offering similar kind of courses and training to the students.
