IIT Kanpur Collaborates with TalentSprint to Launch Certificate Course in Cyber Security
There is a 1.5 lakh global shortfall of Cyber Security and Defence personals who protect the modern-day cloud organisations from cyber threats. TalentSprint with IIT Kanpur has launched advanced course for that.
A Hyderabad based company ‘TalentSprint’ has launched advanced level Cyber Defence and Cyber Security course at Indian Institute of Technology - IIT Kanpur. The advanced certification programme will consist of 120 hours of learning which is distributed in a timeframe of 6 months in IIT Kanpur.
The course is launched keeping in mind the requirements of training of aspiring and professional cybersecurity experts and students who want to exploit the new trends of the field of Cyber Security. The course has been designed in such a way so that it includes both the rigorous academics and practical experience to make the students an expert of the subject and in-demand skills.
The inaugural batch is set to start from next year (2020) with a total of 50 student strength. Immersion Bootcamps will be set up in IIT Kanpur campus to make the course executive-friendly. The TalentSprint digital platform will also arrange for the online conference based interactive sessions under the course.
The participants will be granted direct access to the Interdisciplinary Centre for Cyber Security and Cyber Defence of Critical Infrastructures (C3i) and their research centres wen they visit the IIT Kanpur Campus. The organisation will also conduct high priority projects with the students.
Dr Manindra Agarwal who is the professor of the Computer Science Department of IIT Kanpur has said that the world will have roughly 2 billion connected devices in 2020. The rapid development of mobility, cloud-based technology and internet of things will lead to an increased threat of cybersecurity. Thus, the need for highly trained Cyber Security and Defence experts is growing day by day to make the cyberspace more secure for us. The C3i deep research facilities will provide the candidates with the proper skill training to combat the emerging threats of cybersecurity.

The CEO and Co-Founder of TalentSprint, Mr Sainatnu Paul has said that there is a high need for these experts and very less supply. Companies nowadays need these experts to defend cyberattacks on their servers. He informed that 59% of such posts in different companies are lying vacant which is a not only confined in India. There is a 1.5 lakh shortfall of such professionals globally.
Jayesh Ranjan, the principal secretary of IT at the Government of Telangana, while talking on the incident said that the recently established cybersecurity centre of excellence (CoE) in Hyderabad can help the organisation TalentSprint and IIT Kanpur with the practical use cases. He informed that the government of Telangana will be keen to work with such course even after their course completion.
