JNU Bags A++ Grade from NAAC
- Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has bagged the top spot in NAAC grading assessment with an A++ grade.
- In NIRF Rankings 2017, JNU was positioned 2nd.
- JNU will continue to work hard to find a top spot in global rankings.
JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University) has been accredited with ‘A++’ grade by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council). It is one of the greatest achievements for the premier university in the country. Mr. Garkoti – Rector of JNU mentioned that the dedication levels and hard work put in by the staff members of JNU are the reason for top grade in NAAC.
NAAC inspected the varsity between October 9 and October 11, 2017. The top grade given by NAAC to JNU will help the varsity to boost up research activities, improve the quality education and work harder to find a spot in the list of top 100 universities across the world.

NAAC evaluates the institutes based on different parameters including learning resources, infrastructure, research and evaluation.
In NIRF Rankings 2017, JNU bagged the second position due to its exceptional performance in research, particularly in the field of science.
Even though Indian universities are able to perform well in NIRF Rankings, the performance in World University Rankings is not up to the mark. Most of the Indian institutes or universities lag in the field of research. Experts were of the opinion that lack of adequate funding for the research is the major reason for the poor performance in global rankings. They suggested that the Indian government must encourage research by proving adequate funding.

On the other hand, the government is gearing up for establishing 20 world class institutes to begin a new era in the field of research and boost up the rankings globally.
