Manonmaniam Sundaranar University to Hold Convocation on December 28, 2016
K.Baskar, Vice Chancellor of MSU, revealed that Vikram Kumar, an eminent professor at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi will deliver the convocation address.
Manonmaniam Sundaranar University (MSU) will hold its 24th annual convocation on December 28, 2016. Ch.Vidyasagar Rao, Governor of Tamil Nadu as well as Chancellor of varsity will award the degrees to students. On this occasion, a total number of 669 students and scholars will be awarded degrees, and a total number of 44,849 students will be conferred degrees in absentia.

K.Baskar, Vice Chancellor of MSU, revealed that Vikram Kumar, an eminent Professor at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi would deliver the convocation address. K.P. Anbalagan, Minister of State Higher Education, will also be present for the occasion.
On this occasion, a total number of 613 Ph. D scholars will receive degrees. Out of them, 265 are men and 348 are women candidates. Similarly, 44 postgraduate and 42 undergraduate students will also receive degrees. All these PG & UG students were toppers in their respective streams.
Apart from that, a total number 15,464 PG students and 28,091 UG students will be conferred degrees in absentia. Similarly, 1,294 M.Phil scholars will also receive degrees.

On this occasion, Honourable Governor will launch ‘One Student One Tree Programme’ of MSU. Through this programme, a total number of 1,500 students will plant a tree on the campus and take care of it until they leave the campus after the final year.
The university is also going to take up a project related to the estimation of sea water pollution level in the coastal region of Kanyakumari as well.
