Candidates waiting for NEET UG 2021 counselling to commence can expect the counselling schedule to be published by the second week of January. Aspirants are expecting NEET UG 2021 admission process to start as the government has given assurance to start the NEET PG 2021 Counselling soon.

The Union Health Minister, Mansukh Mandaviya has assured that the NEET 2021 PG counselling will start anytime soon in the second week of January 2022. A group representing the Medical Counselling Committee held a meeting with the health minister to address the issue of delay in the counselling of NEET PG 2021.

Both the counselling processes were delayed last year due to the pandemic and issues with the reservation policies. Many states, such as Maharashtra and Rajasthan, have started admission in MBBS and BDS courses.

The centre has assured the Supreme Court of India that the counselling process will not start unless the issue of reservation in the EWS category which is pending in the court is not resolved. The Hon’ble court had mentioned that changing the minimum income bar to 8 LPA for claiming the EWS quota is arbitrary. Earlier, the centre tried to implement EWS and OBC quota to 15% AIQ seats which were challenged in the court separately.

The court is yet to hear the matter on 6 January 2022. However, the centre has filed the affidavit in the court accepting the notions of a committee made in November last year to assess the foundation of change made in EWS quota eligibility.
