MBBS is one of the most aspired courses for higher education in India. Admissions to the programme are done through the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET). It is through valid NEET UG 2022 scores that candidates get selected to different public or private medical colleges in India. The entrance exam was conducted on July 17 and the National Testing Agency has announced the results. MCC will release the NEET 2022 counselling dates soon for AIQ admissions, tentatively, by September 25, 2022. One of the most essential things that you will need for the NEET MBBS counselling process are your documents. NEET 2022 Counselling Process

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), on behalf of the NTA, will conduct the NEET 2022 counselling session. The entire process will be held online in three rounds, as mentioned above. The first two rounds will offer seats to qualifying candidates under the 15% All India Quota in central and deemed universities, AFMC and ESIC, AIIMS and JIPMER. 

The third round of counselling, which is the mop-up round, will see candidates taking admission excluding the 15% AIQ seats. Furthermore, the respective state authorities will declare the NEET counselling 2022 dates to fill up the 85% State Quota seats as well. All detailed information will soon be available on 

Who is Eligible for NTA NEET Counselling 2022?

Applicants meeting the below criteria are eligible to take part in the NEET counselling process:

  • Candidates who qualify NEET 2022 exam

  • Candidates who successfully register and pay for the counselling process through MCC portal

  • Applicants who are registered for 85% State Quota counselling through the state portals

  • Applicants who qualify for NTA NEET 15% AIQ seats in deemed universities

NEET Documents Required for Counselling Application Form

To ensure candidates experience a smooth application form filling process for NEET 2022 counselling rounds, here are the documents that one should keep with them in advance.

  • Latest passport size photograph

  • Thumb impression, left & right hands fingers

  • Signature

  • Postcard size photograph

  • PwD certificate

  • Category certificate

  • Class 10 passed certificate

  • Embassy/ Citizenship certificate

Special Instructions for NEET 2022 MBBS Admission Documents

Who Should Submit/ Special Instructions

Migration Certificate

This is required for students who are participating in state counselling but are from outside of that particular state. 

Family Income Proof

Required by SC/ ST/ OBC candidates*

Recent Photograph

All the photographs must be identical, recent and must have candidates’ names written on them in capital letters and year on the back. 

Medical Fitness Certificate

Required by all. The certificate must be approved by a Medical Council of India (MCI) registered medical practitioner and must include blood group as well. 

Caste Certificate

Only the candidates who fall under reservation are required to carry their Caste Certificate. Candidates belonging to General category do not require to carry one.

NEET 2022 Counselling MBBS Admission – Registration Process

Candidates seeking admission to MBBS courses must follow these steps to register for the NTA NEET counselling 2022:

Step 1: Online Registration

  • Visit the official website of MCC at

  • Register with a user ID and Password and fill in all details – name, roll no., contact no., etc.

  • A new user ID will be generated, using which candidates will need to log in for the counselling 

  • Login and enter roll no. and password, and wait to get redirected to the registration page

  • Enter the necessary information as asked and click on the ‘Submit’ button

  • Upon successful registration, a slip will be generated, which needs to be kept safe for future reference

Step 2: Payment of NEET Counselling 2022 Fees

  • Following the registration, candidates must pay the required counselling fee i.e. INR 1,000/- through Net Banking or Debit/Credit card

  • It must be noted that candidates will be eligible for seat allotment only after the payment of the counselling fees

Step 3: Choice Filling/Locking

  • Next, shortlist the colleges to apply to for MBBS admissions based on the scores obtained in NEET 2022

  • During choice filling, candidates can choose and edit the preferred colleges and courses n’ number of times but once the options are locked, there will be no room for further modification

  • Take a copy of the choices for future reference

Step 4: NEET 2022 Seat Allotment 

  • Go through the seat allotment list 2022 released by MCC and report to the respective colleges along with the necessary documents

  • Applicants must note that seats are allotted keeping the locked-in choices in mind but sometimes, one may not get their preferred college or course due to other factors, like limited availability of seats. 

  • Report to the allotted institute for final admission

As per the Government policy, 7.5% of seats are reserved for ST category students in the NEET 2022 counselling round. 


Is NEET counselling 2022 conducted online or offline?

NEET counselling 2022 will be conducted online. Candidates will have to register through the MCC portal. However, for the final admission, candidates will need to report to the allotted institute.

How will candidates be called for NEET counselling 2022?

Candidates will be called for counselling based on their rank on the NEET 2022 merit list. The state authorities will also release separate merit lists for admission under the 85% State Quota.

What is the mop-up round in NTA NEET counselling?

NTA NEET Mop-Up round is the third and final round of counselling conducted only for candidates who have not managed to get a seat in the initial two rounds.

When will NEET 2022 counselling start?

MCC will release the official notification announcing the start of NEET 2022 counselling process soon after the results are published. It is expected to begin in September.

How many rounds are there in NEET Counselling?

There are 235 medical colleges that will participate in the counselling process of NEET 2021. A total of three rounds of NEET 2021 Counselling will be organised including a mop-up round. The  NEET mop up round of counselling will be conducted only for Deemed/Central University.

Do you require Medical Fitness Certificate for NEET UG Counselling 2021?

NEET 2021 Medical Fitness Certificate is required by all for NEET 2021 counselling. The certificate must be approved by an MCI registered medical practitioner and must include a blood group as well. 

Is it necessary to lock the filled up choices in NEET counselling 2021?

Candidates should lock the choices once they are final. There will be no option to change the preferences once the choices are locked. Incase one has not locked the saved choices then they will automatically get locked after the assigned date
