NSDC and Google to Launch Mobile App Development Programme

With an objective to develop India’s mobile application development ecosystem, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Google India will collaborate to train app developers for mobile on the Web and Android platforms. NSDC is a PPP (Public Private Partnership) enterprise that comes under the control of Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship.

Through this initiative, NSDC will launch a specific course that focuses on providing training to developers to create mobile applications which can be used on tablets and smart phones running on the Android operating system. The duration of the course will be 100 hours and will be designed and delivered by the partner agencies of National Skill Development Corporation. Similarly, Google India and NSDC will team up to focus on skilling Android trainers through this programme.

Managing Director and CEO of NSDC, Mr. Manish Kumar revealed that the collaboration would accelerate mobile skill training and generate employment opportunities for the youth in the country.

Head of Google Developer Training, Mr. Peter Lubbers pointed that India is capable of innovating and shaping the internet experience of billions of users.

A recent survey conducted ICRA on behalf of NSDC revealed that India requires around 24.4 skilled people by 2022 in 21 sectors. The development of these sectors depends on the skilled workforce for which the requirement is very high.

NSDC has to come up with more skill-based programmes and courses to improve the employability chances of youth. Developing skills in a specific field will, in turn, generate numerous employment opportunities.
