Over 16 lakh candidates have registered for NEET 2021 which is the highest number ever since the exam has been conducted. One of the major reasons for such a high number of applicants in NEET 2021 is that it is the only entrance examination for MBBS admissions in India. The number of candidates appearing for NEET 2021 in Indian languages has also increased. Over 3.4 lakh candidates have applied for NEET 2021 exam in Indian languages.

According to the reports, the number of students appearing in NEET 2021 has increased significantly from 11.4 lakh in 2017 to 16.1 lakh in 2021. The number of female candidates appearing in NEET 2021 has also increased over the past 5 years. Over 9 lakh (40.8%) female candidates will appear in the NEET 2021 exam.
