Pattern of Postponed Exams will Not Change: Education Secretary

The Educational Secretary of India - Amit Khare in an address said that the pattern of competitive exams would not change for central run educational institution even if these tests are deferred till July. He said that the government is finding measure to conduct Class 12th board examination for pending papers, in case the lockdown is extended after April 14th.

He further said that Kendriya Vidyalayas, CBSE Schools, and Central Tibetan School will conduct online classes in the first week of April. National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) lessons are being aired on SWAYAM channels and has already prepared online content for Classes 9, 10, 11 and 12, he added.

Khare clarified that the entrance test will be conducted after lockdown and the patter will definitely not change as it will be a big disadvantage for students who have prepared according to the current pattern of exams.

Khare said that at this time Class 12th board are critical examinations as based on Class 12th results students get admission in different colleges and universities. Conducting such examinations at home will not be fair and they will be conducted as regular examination in respective centres once the lockdown is lifted. He further said that if the lockdown is extended then CBSE will find measures to conduct the paper ensuring the sanctity of the process.

He also said that the government has asked NIOS to prepare class wise and subject wise online class schedule for KVs, CBSE schools and Central Tibetan Schools. There will be no loss for students, once the school reopens and they will study the chapters in a systematic manner. They have also requested NIOS to air lessons on the radio. For junior classes, Thee government has asked KVs to work on the new academic session plans for junior classes.
