Thales signs an MoU with IIT Madras for joint PhD fellowship programmes
- IIT Madras signed MoU with Thales to offer opportunities to grow in the research projects in France in the areas such as data management system, electronics systems among others.

French multinational company,Thales groupand theIndian Institute of Technology Madras(IIT-M)have joined hands to introduce Ph.D fellowship in coordination withCNRSduring their recent visit to the country. Thales Group already has various such jointly supervised Ph.Ds running in the country withIndian Institute of Science Bangalore (IISc),IIT DelhiandIIT Bombay. The MoU between IIT Madras and Thales Group took place in the presences of Prakash JavadekarUnion HRD Minister, and Frédérique Vidal Minister of Higher Education at the Knowledge Summit.
Emmanuel de Roquefeuil, Vice President, and Country Director, Thales Group in India stated that they are very excited about their new venture whose main focus is on research and engineering. He also said that their main objective is to foster a strongIndo-French research ecosystemand they also look forward to supporting Skill India initiative.

The students selected for the jointly supervised Ph.D. fellowships will be provided with an Indian mentor/supervisor and a French co-mentor. This initiative will provide theIIT Madraswith wonderful opportunities to strive in theresearch projects in Francein the areas such as data management system, electronics system, modelling and simulation, complex system engineering among others.
Professor Bhaskar Ramamurthi,IIT Madras Directorsaid that theMoUbetween IIT Madrasand Thales Group is of great value to the institute. As it will provide students with access to world-classresearch programmeand environment. Not only this they will also get to learn from renowned and the world-class researchers.
