THE Employability Rankings: IISc and IIT-Delhi among Top 100 Global Universities
IIT Delhi has been ranked 55th in 2018 global employability rankings of universities according to Times Higher Education. According to THE, the ranks of IITs including IIT Bombay have dropped this year.
The prestigious IISc Bangalore and IIT Delhi have been ranked by the Times Higher Education (THE) amongst the top 100 universities in the world on the employability scale. THE ranked IISc 48th and IIT Delhi 55th on the basis of the top companies that recruit students from the premier technical institution. On the other hand, IIM Ahmedabad bagged a spot in top 15 global universities by securing 144th rank.
Last year, IIT Delhi was ranked before IIT Bombay – which was at the 148th position – in the Times Higher Education Global University Employability Ranking 2017. According to the previous edition of rankings, i.e., 2017, the position if IIT Bombay had declined in the Times Higher Education rankings despite maintaining a place in the top 150 universities.
IIT Mumbai was ranked 90 on the employability scale in the Times Higher Education Global University Employability List 2015.
THE Global Employability Rankings 2018 were published on Wednesday, November 15, 2018. The list caught the attention of educationalists as the employability ranks. The performance of IISc and IIT Delhi was also impressive in other global rankings this year.

QS had placed the two institutes in the 191-200 band of universities in 2017. However, in 2016, IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay were amongst the top 101-150 category in the QS Employability rankings. Other institutes also had different rankings in QS and THE.
According to THE, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore was ranked 29th in the 2017 global list, whereas, the institute had been placed in the 301-500 universities slab by QS last year. However, both the agencies did not provide the reasons behind the change in rankings.

Data Editor of the Times Higher Education, Simon Baker, said that Asian universities, especially those in China, South Korea and Taiwan have made a lot of progress this year. He also added that these universities have become a big name amongst the global recruiters.
