World-Class Journal in the Pipeline for Top 3 IIMs
Several alumni from IIM Ahmedabad mooted the idea to come up with a common research journal in collaboration with the top three IIMs of the country.
At the concluding day of the 3rd edition of Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) alumni meet that was held at Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad on Saturday, 3rd December 2016, several alumni from IIM Ahmedabad mooted the idea to come up with a common research journal in collaboration with the top three IIMs of the country.

While participating in the panel discussion themed under- ‘Voices of recent Alumni: Enhancing Value of Fellow Programme in Management’, former IIM Calcutta Director and FPM alumni Shekhar Chaudhari said that he thinks they have reached a point where at least the top three institutes can think about making these journals. Students of the FPM programme can have a role in this task as well.

Chaudhari also said that nowadays there are much more resources. The orientation of the (FPM) programme has also changed. When the students and the faculty members have changed, they could ideally also come up with an initiative to bring out one of the top journals in India. If the students in collaboration with their professors publish the term papers in these journals, students will get experiences and it will help them in getting jobs in academic institutions and upgrade the quality of their research.

Another FPM alumni proposed that 3-4 IIMs come together under one editorship. The onus of editorship should rotate every year from one IIM to another and they can make one world-class journal.
Amit Garg, IIMA faculty and current FPM Chairperson said that FPM alumni and students can play a larger role in the B-school journal to make it a world-class one. He also appreciated the idea of having a common editorial board and associating it with some really renowned people. He was also in favour of having a higher level of editorial board and wanted to make it happen soon.
