221 students were selected by three leading IT companies on a single day from National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur
The three major companies that offered jobs are Wipro, Infosys and IBM. While Infosys offered jobs to 159 students offering Rs 3.63 lakh per annum to M Tech and Rs 3.28 lakh annum to B Tech and MCA students. IBM offered jobs to 61 students at 3.5 lakh per annum and Wipro selected 59 students at Rs 3.3 lakh per annum.
"In all, 279 jobs have been offered to our final-year students (passing out year 2016) by three IT companies, out of which 221 were selected on a single day," said a professor in charge of placement.
“In last October Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) recruited 164 students on a single day, offering a pay package of Rs 3.34 lakh per annum to each student. Last week HP recruited five students offering a package of Rs 10.5 lakh per annum.
Tata Metaliks recruited two students each from electrical and metallurgical stream offering Rs 7.5 lakh per annum,” he added.
"The ongoing placement drive at our college has been quite good with several leading companies across diverse trade fields selecting a bunch of students from different disciplines,” he added further.
Students from final years are confident of the fact that more company would visit their campus and offer jobs in heavy amount.
So far 441 jobs has been offered in this current season. Earlier Maruti Suzuki recruited 6 students, Philips selected 8 students, Larsen and Turbo Construction Company recruited 21 students.
