Aadhaar Card Mandatory for NATA 2018; J&K, Meghalaya and Assam Students Not Exempted

The application process for NATA 2018 began on January 18, 2018. This year, Aadhaar Card/Number has been made mandatory to register for NATA examination. Council of Architecture (COA) conducts NATA examination, and TCS ION is the service provider for NATA. The online registration for the national-level architecture entrance exam will close on March 02, 2018.

A new issue with regard to NATA 2018 came into limelight. Aspirants from Assam, Meghalaya and Jammu & Kashmir were unable to fill the online application form as the server kept on insisting for Aadhaar number. Other entrance exams exempted Aadhaar rule for these states because the process of issuing Aadhaar cards in these regions has not been started yet. However, the official notification of NATA has no mention about Aadhaar exemption for the aspirants of these three states.

Many aspirants from these states expressed their concern and raised the issue. So far, there is no clarification from COA in this regard. Students searched the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) to find an alternative and were disappointed with the lack of information. On the other hand, the official website of NATA is not functioning properly and it hangs very often. Students who tried to fill the application form faced the issue with payment of the fee, uploading photograph and others application related details.

Overall, the online application portal of NATA is not student-friendly. In many cases, students tried filling the online application form multiple times due to server break down. The problems pertaining to online application portal and Aadhaar rule have been notified to COA.
