Academia Industry Interaction Cell to Come Up at IISER Kolkata

Soon, Indian Institute Science Education and Research, Kolkata will set up an Academia Industry Interaction Cell. Through this cell, the students of IISER will be able to explore the manpower training directed by different industries. It will enable the students and faculty members of IISER to develop their entrepreneurial potential.

IISER Kolkata has already started that the process for setting up an incubation cell for promoting entrepreneurial potential. Academia Industry Interaction Cell will also facilitate the exchange of ideas and suggestions between the faculty, students and industry experts. The interaction between academia and industry will help in sorting out various challenges and issued faced by the industry.

IISER which came into existence in the year 2006 has been playing a vital role in helping the budding entrepreneurs begin their independent business ventures by minimising their risks. IISER also enables them to take up basic research in various areas of science by focusing on interdisciplinary areas for students at UG and PG levels.

IISER has been successful in maintaining collaborations with various national and international universities or institutes from the perspective of faculty and student exchange as well as successful scientific collaborations.

IISER has also been encouraging the talented scientists and entrepreneurs from various countries through GIAN or Global Initiative of Academic Network. So far, IIESR conducted four GIAN programmes.

With the sponsorship from non-government and government agencies, IISER is pursuing 16 young faculty fellowship programmes and 78 sponsored research projects. So far, IISER bagged 223 research projects and Rs. 100 crore were sanctioned by the government and non-government agencies.
