The Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) has recently announced that it will conduct the GUJCET 2017 for admissions to undergraduate engineering programmes in B.Tech colleges in Gujarat.

While sharing the information, an official of ACPC said that the Gujarat government has decided to grant the admissions through ACPC while keeping GUJCET as the common entrance test for admissions in 2017 instead of JEE Mains examination.
Eligibility Criteria for GUJCET 2017:
- Candidate should be a resident of Gujarat.
- Must clear 12th standard with 45% aggregate marks (General Category), while there is a relaxation of 40% aggregate marks for ST/SC candidates.
- Candidates must have cleared Class 12 from a recognised board.
- Candidates seeking admission to centrally funded institutes like NITs, IITs, IIITs and other such institutes in states other than Gujarat, will have to appear for JEE Mains 2017 examination.
Application Process for GUJCET 2017:
- Candidates intending to appear for the test are required to apply online after downloading the application form from the official website.
- Fill up all educational details, personal information in the application form.
- Several documents have to be attached with the application form such as 10th and 12th class mark sheets, transfer certificate, domicile certificate etc.
- If certificates related to caste, physical disability, etc. are applicable, you are advised to attach them with the application form.

Previously, the admissions to B.Tech/ B.E. programmes in different engineering colleges of Gujarat were done through JEE Mains score. But with the introduction of GUJCET 2017, there may be a drop in JEE Mains registrations from the state of Gujarat, especially for those candidates who wish to stay in Gujarat to pursue higher education in the field of engineering.
