On the occasion of 14th convocation ceremony, Abdul Kalam Technical University will award Chancellor's medal for the first time. The convocation ceremony will take place on January 23, 2017. Lucknow University has been involved in the practice of awarding Chancellor's medal to the best performing student. Similarly, AKTU will also award the best and meritorious student with chancellor's medal. AKTU also awards gold, silver and bronze medals to the toppers in each course.

Vinay Pathak, Vice-Chancellor of AKTU, revealed that the best and meritorious students of all the departments need to compete for Chancellor's medal. He further added that the Chancellor's medal would be awarded to the best performer in an undergraduate course for this year. The varsity will award Chancellor's medal to postgraduate course students too next year. As of now, the name of the winner has been selected at a meeting on January 2, 2017.

He further added that the parameters for selecting the winner of Chancellor's medal are different for various courses. For instance, an engineering student will be selected as per marks he/she secured in theory based examinations. On the other hand, 70% marks in the practical based examination will be taken into consideration for a fashion designing student.
He stated that the varsity released the list of toppers of all the courses. On the occasion of convocation ceremony, a total number of 72,000 students will be awarded degrees. The convocation address will be delivered by VK Saraswat, a member of NITI Aayog.
