Professor G Nageswara Rao, Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University informed that the varsity will be granted Rs.100 crore funding under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA). The varsity will get the funding in the second phase and the amount for the same will be spent on the infrastructure development. The University will also launch new courses to meet the international standards of education and to improve the rankings.
The Vice-Chancellor informed about the same during the ISO External Auditors meet. RUSA has already granted Rs. 20 crores to the varsity in the first phase. With the help of this amount, Andhra University is building hostels for women and development of various other infrastructure facilities.

Apart from this, he also informed that the University is also planning to establish a Research and Development Centre in the second phase. They will build a five-floor research centre for starting various projects. It will be equipped with the latest tools and technologies.

Andhra University has received an autonomous status which will provide them with the freedom to introduce new courses, publish their own results, redesign their curriculum, syllabus etc. Also, as per the NIRF ranking, the university has been ranked 22nd among all the higher educational institutions in the country.
