Anna University has plans to strengthen its incubation cell and set up a research park inside the IIT Madras campus. Anna University has already given a detailed proposal to the state government to get financial assistance and support. There are 13 start-ups at Anna University for operating the incubation cell but the universities plan to make the cell more robust to produce great start-ups and help the students become good entrepreneurs. The idea behind this project is to generate income for the university by encouraging the entrepreneurs by developing good sound infrastructure so that it encourages students to convert their innovative ideas into a profitable business model.

Mangat Ram Sharma, the secretary of higher education recommended the expansion of the incubation cell of the institute. The official claimed that if the startup at Anna University becomes successful then the university would benefit financially and it will encourage entrepreneurs to come up with more innovations. The university is planning to offer financial support to some of the promising start-ups and come up with some guidelines to achieve growth. The idea is to develop a research park like the one IIT Madras has and at the same time, diversify the incubation cell. This project is likely to boost the research activities in various sectors and will also help develop students' entrepreneurial skills.
