CBSE to Incorporate Art-based Learning in Classrooms

CBSE affiliated schools will soon incorporate the use of various art forms. There has been an immense change in the mindset of people. They have realised that the learning methods and learning outcomes are more important. CBSE will incorporate Art-integrated learning to achieve the goals set by NCERT for their learning outcomes.

An official curricular of the CBSE said that it is necessary to incorporate arts in the learning methods for all the subjects. The board has decided that they will integrate Arts in learning in the classrooms.

According to the Board, when the student is taught with the help of Arts, it will help them to investigate, inquire, explore, think critically and involve creativity so as to understand the various concepts in the different subjects. They also state that Art-integrated learning is a competitor for experiential learning as it allows the students to understand and find out meanings from the learning experiences.

Meanwhile, students from grade 6th to 8th will also be introduced to culinary arts as a subject in addition to the four mainstream spheres (music, dance, visual and theatre). In culinary arts, students will learn about crops, nutrition, agricultural practices, pesticides and how climate affects the agriculture in India.

Schools will have to devise their own process. These subjects will have a non-examination-based and process-oriented evaluation. No formal exams will be conducted as per the new system and the students will be assessed through theory practical and project work.
