The High Court of Madras has directed Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) to fill up the seats lying vacant as ‘lapsed seats’ for the academic session 2016-17. The representation was made by Association of Self Finance Agriculture Colleges. The court has taken the representation into consideration and directed TNAU to fill the vacant seats. The court stated that the lapsed seats must not go waste and the university has to consider the representation of association within 15 days.
However, the counsel appeared on behalf of TNAU mentioned that the last date for the admissions was on August 30, 2016, and the association made the representation on September 21, 2016.
The Judge mentioned that even though the admission date was over, the university could conduct the admission process to fill up the lapsed seats as the seats should not go waste. The university has to consider the decision of the court within 15 days and commence the admission process.
