
Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli (IIM-T) celebrated Daan Utsav, known as Giving Week, India's festival of giving from October 2-8 with plethora of activities.
The festival was organized by Elixir club- the Social Responsibility club of IIM-T from 2009. Since then it has been celebrating annually bringing together Indians from all walks of life to celebrate 'giving'.
The event started with the initial event 'Shram Daan', a campus clean-up programme on October 2 commemorating the first anniversary of 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ where students actively participated and cleaned the places around the campus.
Donation of clothes for the event Vastra Daan organized on October 3rd where students, faculty and administration staff donated their old clothes for the welfare of the underprivileged. The donated clothes were sent to Goonj foundation.
Pustak Daan was organized to conduct a donation drive for the contribution of books, newspapers, toys, one-side used papers, bags and stationery items like pens and pencils.
A traditional banana leaf lunch was organized to celebrate Bhojan Daan in the event where students actively prepared various dishes and served lunch to the support staff.
As a part of the Vidya Dan Student from the institute visited a government school in Thuvakudi and gave consultation to students from Xth and XIIth standard about career opportunities after completion of school.
Netra Dan, Dhan Dan event etc. also attracted attention of people. -
A cricket match was organized between the students and the faculty to raise money for donation to a social cause. An eye donation awareness camp was organized for Netra Daan where several students pledged to donate their eyes after attending the event.
