Ranchi’s biggest youth fest the Bitotsav 2016 organized by Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra witnessed a splendid fashion and heavy metal music on its fourth day. The popular Indian heavy metal band Girish and The Chronicles performed during the Band Night at the BIT campus on Saturday.
Dance Club of BIT Mesra conducted Stomp the Yard that saw teams from BIT Mesra, National Institute of Technlogy, Rourkela, St. Xavier’s College Kolkata, Central University of Jharkhand and other competed for the top slot in street dancing. The participating teams gave some spectacular and electrifying performances and pulled off some brilliant street dance moves. The top position was won by Team Falcon from NIT Rourkela the team from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata ended up as runner ups.
The official pageant of Bitotsav, Mr and Miss Bitotsav was also conducted and saw pairs of students walking up the ramp with panache. The show however was not just about fashion as the participants were also asked some tricky questions in the final round. The result of the show would be announced during Pro Night on Sunday.
Apart from these glamourous events there were other events also that were organized during the day. Face painting, solo singing, poetry writing, monologues were the other events. Sumo wrestling was also organized in which the participants entered the ring in the teams of two.
A murder investigation event was also organized in which the students turned sleuths in order to unravel a murder mystery on the campus. The participating teams were given a hands up in the form of clues that allowed the teams to take over the campus to solve the puzzle. Former front-man of Indipop band Silk Route and noted playback singer Mohit Chauhan would be performing on the final night of the fest.
