According to the recommendations made by the Governor of Uttar Pradesh Mr. Ram Naik, the legislative assembly of UP has passed an amendment to the UP State Universities Act. According to the latest amendment, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University located in Agra will be renamed as ‘Aambedkar University’. The name change had been proposed in the legislative assembly after discovering that Dr. BR Ambedkar had signed his name in Hindi on the Constitution of India as ‘Aambedkar’. The signature of Dr. Ambedkar was found on the 254 th page of the Indian Constitution.
Mr. Ram Naik indicated that Dr. Ambedkar’s name, which is usually written, as ‘Ambedkar’ is wrong. The signature in the 254 th of Indian Constitution, i.e., ‘Aambedkar’ is correct and the same spellings must be adopted, he added.

The 83 rd convocation ceremony of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University took place on December 5, 2017. President of India, Mr. Ram Nath Kovind delivered the convocation address and motivated the students to be responsible towards the society. During his speech, the President hailed the initiatives that are being carried out by the varsity in uplifting the underprivileged sections of the society.
The varsity is providing education to underprivileged sections in the surrounding areas. Through such kind of initiatives, the varsity is playing a vital role in making students responsible towards society. The varsity is also training the youth in surrounding areas in a variety of skills. These initiatives reveal the social responsibility of the varsity.
