Delhi University achieved yet another milestone by getting its development studies programme ranked within the top 20 subject rankings published by QS.
DU’s Development Studies Course Placed 16th in QS Subject List 2017

Delhi University achieved yet another milestone by getting its development studies programme ranked within the top 20 subject rankings published by QS. DU’s programme was ranked 16th in the 2017 QS World University Rankings by Subject.

This is the seventh edition of subject-specific university performance analysis published by QS. The list was released on March 8, 2017, and comprises the list of some of the best programmes offered by the most prestigious universities in the world. The analysis was prepared for the study of 46 different subjects.

DU has progressed in the 2017 list with improvement in the rank of its development studies programme. The course has moved up by two places. Also, DU offers one of India’s four top-50 finishes across the 46 tables. The count has increased by one as compared to 2016.

Amongst other institutes that have performed well is the Indian School of Mines that has been ranked 24th for engineering in mineral and mining. The institute was listed in the 51-100 category in 2016. Also, IIT Kharagpur has been ranked 35th for the engineering – mineral and mining programme.

IIT Delhi has also fared well in the list. The institute’s electrical engineering programme has been given the 49th position.

More Indian institutes featuring in this year’s edition proves the progress India has made in the segment of quality of education. More institutes have been listed in the for top-50 programmes as compared to 2016. A total of 28 institutes have been ranked in the list whereas in 2016 the number of institutes that featured in the list was 22.

The overall share of places for Indian institutes has also increased. 22 institutions were ranked 117 times in 2016 while in 2017, 28 Indian universities are ranked 151 times. The representation has increased by 1.32% in overall places.

The IITs, IIMs, and IISc Bangalore have been ranked 95 times in 2017 whereas the number was down to 82 in 2016. IIT Madras has shown maximum progress with its mathematics programme ranked in the 101-150 category, physics and astronomy programmes placed in 151-200 category and material science entering the top 100 club.

IIT Delhi got the best place in the faculty tables i.e. 71st-place in the engineering and technology faculty. The institute is followed by IIT Bombay ranked 78th for the same stream.
