Popular engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu recorded impressive numbers in campus recruitments this year. Core engineering, start-ups and product-based companies are first to arrive to recruit students.

Engineering Colleges in Tamil Nadu Witness a Surge in Campus Placements

Engineering placements for the academic year 2018-19 in many technical colleges across Tamil Nadu have commenced, and these colleges have witnessed a surge in campus placement offers this year. Compared to the engineering placements of 2017-18, the placements of the current academic session have picked up, as many engineering colleges reported an almost 100% surge in the number of product-based software companies, core engineering firms and start-ups that offered jobs this year. Unlike last year, IT companies began the campus recruitment process on time this year. Last year, IT companies delayed the campus placements by three weeks.

Usually, campus recruitment process in Tamil Nadu engineering colleges begins in the month of July every year. Core engineering, start-ups and product-based companies are first to arrive to recruit students.

Anna University recorded a 30-40% rise in placement offers this year. So far, 53 companies participated in the campus recruitment process and offered 697 jobs to both UG and PG engineering students. The lowest salary package was Rs. 3.93 LPA while the highest package stood at Rs. 39 LPA. Some of the popular product-based companies that recruited Anna University students were Microsoft India Development Centre, Pay-Pal, and SAP. Infosys, TCS, Bank of America, and CTS were other major recruiters.

At SRM, the aggregate number of job offers made this year was approximately 3,700 while it was only 1,500 last year. Cognizant, Wipro, TCS, and Infosys made almost 3,000 offers. Amazon was another major recruiter that recruited 16 students for the post of software development engineers.

Velammal Engineering College has also recorded impressive placement figures so far. Popular companies such as Kaar Technologies, Zoho, and Amazon made 146 offers. The highest salary offered was Rs. 10.5 LPA. The placement percentage of the college is 50.2% this year and is expected to increase in the coming months.

Rajalakshmi Engineering College is one of the popular engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu that witnessed a 100% increase in the campus placement offers this year. So far, some of the popular companies such as Coding Mart, Odessa, Amazon, and Zoho offered 150 jobs. The campus placement is still underway, and the placement figures are expected to change. The college has been busy in preparing the engineering students in certain skills such as coding, programming, and other digital skills.

As on September 13, 2018, Sastra University recorded 1,433 job offers from four IT companies. The placement process is still underway, and more companies are expected to take part in placements.

At VIT Deemed University, the salary offered to the engineering students by reputed companies range from Rs. 21 LPA to Rs. 39 LPA. So far, 4,000 job offers have been made to students, and the placement figures are expected to change, as the campus recruitment process is still underway.
