FYJC Cut Off Scores 2019 Witness a Dip in the Minority Colleges of Mumbai

The cut off list for the First Year Junior College (FYJC) admissions 2019 has been released. This year, the cut off for the streams of Arts and Science under the minority quota saw a dip of two to four per cent in St. Xavier’s College. The college is located at Dhobi Talao in Fort and released its first merit list for the minority quota on 24th June 2019, Monday.

For the Science stream, the cut off marks for seats under the minority quota went down from last year’s 80.8 per cent to 77.2 per cent this year. Whereas the cut off marks for the Arts stream fell down to 82 per cent from last year’s cut off which was 86.2 per cent. The principal of St. Xavier’s College, Rajendra Shinde, was unavailable to give any comments on this development.

The experts, however, said that the fall in cut off scores could be possibly because of the low scores obtained by students belonging to the state board. The low marks scored by these students of the state board coupled with the additional seats is the primary reason for the cut off scores going down this year. From the academic session of 2019-2020, the college will be getting 29 seats more. This move is made by the education department in order to bring down the disparity between students belonging to the state board and to the other boards.

This year, the cut off list of this college for the Science stream closed at 74.40 per cent.
