The GB Pant Engineering College (GBPEC) has been barred from providing admission to the students for the 2018-19 academic year by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) as they failed to provide them with the documents regarding rectification in the basic infrastructure of the university.
Standard Appellate Committee took the same decision last year as it was found out that the college lacked laboratory, common room for both men and women, hostels, and principals quarters. Therefore the SAC barred admission for the new academic year on 11 January. But, the college filed an appeal and got a chance to present their case.

SAC made their final recommendation on this matter and barred the admissions as the college failed to provide the documents asked by them. However, OP Verma, Principal GBPEC said that the college presented all papers to the committee but the permission sought for the college is in regard to polytechnic college and not an engineering college. He also said that they will write to the MHRD regarding the issue and allow them to admit students.

Students and teachers of the college also protested regarding the infrastructure in the month of March last year but it was called off on 29th April, after CM Arvind Kejriwal intervened into the matter and stated that there is a case of corruption and the land belonging to college will be given back to them.
