GITAM in Collaboration with University of Melbourne to Offer B.Sc. (Blended) Course

GITAM and the University of Melbourne (UoM) have entered an alliance to launch a new course. The B.Sc.(Blended) course will begin after getting approved by the Board of Studies.

GITAM in Collaboration with University of Melbourne to Offer B.Sc. (Blended) Course

Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management of Hyderabad (GITAM) will start a Bachelor of Science (Blended course) from the academic session of 2019-2020. This blended course is being offered by GITAM and the University of Melbourne, Australia (UoM) collaboratively.

The new course will have an innovative curriculum which will integrate four major science disciplines of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology into one common curriculum for every student. The course will entail this integrated curriculum for a duration of 2 years which will be common for all students and in the third year, students will be given a strategic and diverse choice of major streams.

In a press release on 3rd April 2019, GITAM told that the University of Melbourne will recognise the B.Sc. course (Blended) and graduates will be eligible to apply for the various postgraduate science programmes offered by the UoM on an equivalent basis. The University of Melbourne will also promote all the quality assured credentials of the B.Sc. (Blended) programme to support students who wish to explore their postgraduate options at other institutions as well.

The delegation of UoM, Australia visited the campus of GITAM, Hyderabad on 3rd April 2019, Wednesday. The delegates were Alex Johnson who is the International Associate Dean, Professor Andrew Drinnan, and Jessica Piesse who is the Project Coordinator of the B.Sc. (Blended) programme.

The team of UoM interacted with the Pro Vice-Chancellor of GITAM, N Siva Prasad and also with GA Rama Rao who is the Principal of the School of Science. They also met with the Heads of Departments and the faculty of the respective departments of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Post some briefing and deliberations, the authorities decided to introduce the blended programme after receiving approval from the Board of Studies. A letter of intent will be entered by GITAM and the University of Melbourne.
