Google & Telangana Government unite to extend digital skills to youth & women

Google and the Telangana Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding to provide digital skills and support the youth and women of Telangana. The collaboration will bring opportunities to the young entrepreneurs of the state. A three million square foot building will be constructed to provide the facilities to the youth, women, and entrepreneurs of the state in the city. 

The MoU was signed in the presence of KT Rama Rao, the IT and Industries Minister, Telangana. The Minister also unveiled the building design at the event on the site of the building. The building will be sustainable & energy efficient and stand as a landmark for Hyderabad for years to come, as tweeted by the Minister. He thanks google for the support on the same.

The collaboration between the tech giant, Google and the government of Telangana will offer scholarships for the Google Career Certificates to the interested youth, women, and young entrepreneurs. The participants will benefit from financial, business, and digital skills. It will also help digital learning and contribute to modernising the education of the government schools of the state. Also, the US-based company has extended its efforts to support the state government to improve agriculture and transportation using digital technologies.

Further, Minister Rama Rao expresses gratitude to Google for their long support of the IT sector and technological growth. He adds that Google has helped in building the image of the state, Telangana. Speaking of the building, Rama Rao adds that Google has deepened its roots in Hyderabad in a 7.3-acre campus located in Gachibowli. The ceremonial pouring of the concrete is done for the building as well.

Sanjay Gupta, Vice President & Country Head, Google, states that Hyderabad has been home since its starting of operations in India with the company’s largest employees. He also recognizes the long partnership with the state government and Google to promote Google Technologies and provide programs to the people. With the new collaboration, Google will be able to provide skills to the youth for employment, teach the women skills for entrepreneurship, and digital skills, and help in modernising schools for the children he states.
