Higher Education Should Have a Development Plan: Vinod Tawade

The Higher education sector of India must have a separate Development Plan (DP) at par with Urban Planning. Minister of Higher Education for Maharashtra, Mr. Vinod Tawade gave this statement at Higher Education Summit 2016 organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Mumbai.

He said that the Development Plan must be relevant to the current scenario of the market and job opportunities. The DP should be updated for every five years to promote effective development of higher education. The DP has to focus on the development of both students and industry. He also suggested the government that the way to ensure the better higher education in the state is to approve New University Act.

Lord Meghnad, London School of Economics, attended the summit and delivered his speech. He suggested various ways to improve higher education. Various eminent scholars from CII also participated in the submit and discussed various issues about higher education and drawn conclusions. The CII mentioned that they would present the paper on deliberations of the summit to the Ministry of Higher Education.
