Country’s premier B-school Ahmedabad based Indian Institute of Management (IIM-A) has received Rs 110 crore recently through corporate funding of chairs and scholarships.
Large portion of the amount Rs 50 crore, has been funded by steel major JSW Steel while the remaining Rs 60 crore has been given by way of funding over 16 chairs by different corporates.
Recently IIM-A director Ashish Nanda announced five new chaired professor positions and three student scholarships.
“We are delighted to partner with Infosys Foundation for the chair of societal development; Edelweiss, for establishing the Edelweiss term chair in finance; PwC for establishing the PwC chair of financial reporting and corporate governance; UTI for a term chair in macro-economic; Kasturbhai Lalbhai for the chair in management development,” said Ashish Nanda.
“I am also thankful to Ajay and Ritu Banga for their contribution towards the PGP scholarships. Contributions from the 1986 batch and other alumni, including the 2014 PGP batch and several of our women alumni, will help upgrade the IIM-A child care centre. We have received Rs 11 crore for the five chairs,R5 crore from Infosys foundation and Rs 1.5 crore each from the rest. We have Rs 10 crore of anonymous contribution for admissions and recruitment and entrepreneurship and Rs 15 crore for the India Gold Policy centre,” he added further.
An anonymous contribution has been made by an alumnus for the admission process and to encourage entrepreneurship among students. Alumni contributions will also help upgrade the child care centre to modern standards.
