Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad has come up with a faculty newsletter - Ideas from IIMA. The IIMA faculty newsletter will serve as a platform to showcase the faculty's innovation on research, teaching, and others.
Indian Institute of Management - IIM Ahmedabad has launched a faculty newsletter- Ideas from IIMA to showcase the achievements of the faculty member in the field of research, teaching, consulting, etc.
Errol D’Souza, Director of IIM Ahmedabad, said that the inspiration behind this initiative is that for ideas to travel they must be first tested by experts as they have the domain knowledge to determine whether the ideas add to the understanding of the world around us. He added that the ideas are generally broadcasted in technical languages so, it cannot appeal to a broader audience and not just to a section of people.
He further said that the aim of the newsletter is to cater to a broader audience about the case writing, research and teaching contributions of an individual faculty. Each article in the Newsletter is a testimony to a new milestone of faculty achievements. It will broaden the horizon and will also throw light on the issues faced by policymakers and managers. The IIMA faculty newsletter is an invitation to the reader to get to life of IIMA.
To live up the Insitute’s Motto, Vidyaviniyogadvikasah which means ‘Development of Knowledge through application’ in Sanskrit, the Newsletter will be published once in a quarter.
Talking about the themes of the future issue, the Dean Faculty of IIM Ahmedabad, Tathagata Bandyopadhyay said in the future issues, the institute will talk about the importance and achievements of executive programmes. As the name suggests we will also talk about future ideas in our newsletter.

The IIM Ahmedabad has also sought suggestions for improvement of the Newsletters in upcoming issues.
Professor Tathagata Bandyopadhyay and Viswanath Pingali will play an advisory role and, Vijaya Sherry Chand (Professor) will be the Editor of the IIMA newsletter

The institute hopes the initiative will be a success to bring complex managerial and technical issues within the level of understanding for common people.
