- IIM Calcutta celebrated its 57th Foundation Day and awarded various notable alumni for their achievements in their respective fields.
- Among these were the popular author Mr. Amish Tripathi, CEO and MD of Bharathi Airtel, Mr. Gopal Vittal and others.
Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Calcutta has celebrated its 57th Foundation Day celebrations on November 14, 2017. On this occasion, IIM Calcutta has conferred Distinguished Alumni Award, the highest award amongst these was the award for exemplary success. This award was conferred to a number of individuals who had achieved magnificent success in their respective fields.
Recipients of IIM Calcutta Distinguished Alumni Awards: -

- Federal Bank CEO and MD, Mr. Shyam Srinivasan
- Bharathi Airtel CEO and MD (India and South Asia), Mr. Gopal Vittal
- Professor Ajay K Kohli, Professor of Marketing – Scheller College of Business (Georgia Institute of Technology)
- Chairman & CEO of Rediff.Com, Mr. Ajit Balakrishnan

The recipients of Distinguished Alumni Award shared their journey, success stories and association with the premier B-School. On this occasion, Chairperson of IIM Calcutta, Mr. Shrikrishna Kulkarni pointed that the premier B-School was the nodal agency for creating future leaders and nation-building.
During the 57th Foundation Day celebrations, Chief Guest of the programme, Mr. Ajit Balakrishnan delivered a lecture on ‘Preparing Management Schools for the Information Age’.

The summer placements of IIM Calcutta for the batch of 2019 have also been concluded. The batch recorded 100% placements, and 180 companies offered roles across different sectors. For the first time, NITI Aayog also took part in the placements and surprised everyone with their unique internship opportunities.
IIM Calcutta is one of the premier B-Schools in India, which has been playing a significant role in promoting innovation and start-up culture.
