IIM Calcutta Introduces Advanced Programmes in FinTech and Financial Blockchain

IIM Calcutta starts APFFB - Advanced Programme in FinTech and Financial Blockchain, in association with TalentSprint. The course will be six months long and train professionals for the FinTech sector.

IIM Calcutta Introduces Advanced Programmes in FinTech and Financial Blockchain

The Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta will be starting an advanced programme in two fields. These fields are Financial Blockchain and FinTech (Financial Technology) and they will be launched to assist the professionals of the financial sector. The aim of these programmes is to give teaching about FinTech and how it is impacting the financial and banking peripheral. It will also teach about how to use FinTech for designing and driving strategies for the new products launched by their respective organizations.

FinTech has been growing swiftly in India, making it the second largest hub of the FinTech sector. NASSCOM declared that the growth of the FinTech market of India is expected to be about 22% in the next five years. According to the reports by KPMG, the Indian FinTech sector is estimated to have a transaction value of $73 billion by the year 2020.

IIM Calcutta is starting this course in a partnership with TalentSprint. The duration of this Advanced Programme In FinTech and Financial Blockchain (APFFB) will be six months and it is ideal for professionals who are working in sectors of Insurance, Consulting, Banking, Management, Financial Services, and Technology. The delivery of the programme will require students to go for onsite visits to the campus of IIM Calcutta and they will have online sessions through the digital platform of TalentSprint.

One of the directors of APFFB, Indranil Bose, said that a big challenge that FinTech, financial and banking sector face is talent shortage. The firms cannot function properly without learned professionals and that poses as a threat to their existence. With this programme, IIM Calcutta aims at enabling 2,000 individuals with FinTech knowledge and training in the upcoming few years.

The eligibility criteria of APFFB entails that the candidate should be a graduate or a postgraduate in any field with at least 50% marks. He/she must have experience working for a minimum of two years. The course fee is Rs. 3.36 lakh. The course will commence in May, and IIM Calcutta will award the certificate to candidates after the successful completion of the course.
