    IIM Admission Process

The Indian Institutes of Management have an elaborate admission process to select candidates for their flagship management programs every year. Only those candidates are able to secure admission who are considered to be the top-ranked candidates among lakhs of applicants. The IIM admission process is conducted through the CAT exam which is conducted by any one of the IIMs every year on a rotational basis. Take a look at the IIM admissions process explained in detail below.

    Applying & Qualifying for CAT

The first step in the IIM admission process is applying for the CAT exam. Candidates must apply for the exam and also mention their preferences for which IIMs they wish to join for management education. Once candidates have successfully registered for the CAT exam they must qualify for the same, which means they must achieve the required CAT score, also known as the CAT cutoff, for being selected for the next round of the IIM admission process.

    Appearing for GD/PI/WAT Rounds

Once candidates have scored the required CAT cutoff for their preferred IIMs, they will be selected for the next round of the admission process based on a combination of factors like the CAT score, past academic performance, work experience (if applicable), etc. In the next stage of the IIM admission process, candidates have to appear for different types of assessments which include Group Discussions, Personal Interviews, and in some cases Written Ability Tests. Candidates must perform well in all these selection rounds to secure admission to their choice of management courses offered at IIMs.

Final Selection Based on Composite Score

After the completion of GD/PI/WAT rounds of the IIM admission process, a final composite score is created for each candidate based on several criteria and their performance in all the previous admission rounds. Based on the final composite score, candidates are offered admission to the flagship management programs at IIMs. The factors taken into consideration for the final composite score calculation are:
