A Women Entrepreneurship and Empowerment Mentorship Program has been launched by IIT Bombay in association with WEE. The programme will help women entrepreneurs to be a part of the startup ecosystem.
A group of 30 women entrepreneurs will be selected as a part of a new programme - Women Entrepreneurship and Empowerment Mentorship Program at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. The new entrepreneurship programme at IIT Bombay was launched on 8th October 2018.
The new programme is a joint initiative of The Society for Innovation & Entrepreneurship and WEE with support from NITI Aayog and Department of Science and Technology. The main of the programme is to increase the number of women in the start-ups and help them market their business idea.
This will also provide the entrepreneurs with a platform for their business idea and to be a part of the startup ecosystem. At IIT Bombay, there are only 10% of the total startups initiated by women.

Poyni Bhatt, CEO, SINE, said that currently, the number of women entrepreneurs in the startup ecosystem is extremely low. Therefore, to address this problem they needed to come up with such a programme which will help groom women and their startup ideas. The women entrepreneurs will also be offered training in the field as a part of the programme.

The women entrepreneurs will be trained from 7th Oct 2018 to 30th December 2018 and the best business idea will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 25 lakh on the completion of the programme.
