The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has started the first ever day care facility centre. The centre has been started to support the faculty members and researchers enrolled at the institute.
According to a press release shared by IIT Delhi, the day care facility will be open for children of age between 18 months to 8 years. The centre can accommodate as many as 40 children at a time.
The press release also added that the centre will cater mainly to children belonging to two different groups i.e. nursery section and play group section.
IIT Delhi has divided the timings of the day care centre into different slots for the convenience of its faculty members and researchers. The centre will be open from 9.30 am to 6.30 pm for the afternoon, half day and full day slots.
The day care centre will follow a well-structured curriculum that will be focused on cognitive development, creative arts, social as well as emotional development.

President of the Day Care Management Committee, Arjun Ghosh, talked about the objectives of the centre and said that it was a step that was much needed.
He also added that other institutes should also follow the example of IIT Delhi and start day care centres on similar lines. Ghosh added that the centre will also enhance the recruitment process at the institute.

IIT Delhi has outsourced the management and running of the centre to an external pre-school and play group organisation – Footprints.
