IIT Delhi Researchers Develop Cheapest Respiratory Filter

Researchers at IIT Delhi or Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi have developed a respiratory filter. The speciality of this respiratory filter is that it not only restricts the entry of 95% air pollution and dust but also is the cheapest nasal filter.

The name of the device is ‘Nasofilters’, referring to a nano-respiratory filter. The cost of this special respiratory filter is Rs. 10, and it is ready for commercialization. The device provides protection against the finest particulate pollutants that are present in the air. It gives protection for up to eight hours and reduces the risk of respiratory diseases.The filter will main good breathability and comfort. The filter protects the people from air pollution and allergies. The device will turn out to be a great benefit for industrial workers. The device will restrict the entry of foreign particulate matter that includes PM 2.5 particles, bacteria and pollen allergens.

Faculty members, alumni and students of IIT Delhi jointly developed the device. The team includes two faculty members from IIT Delhi, Ashwini. K. Agarwal and Manjeet Jassal. The alumni of the institute, Tushar Vyas, Prateek Sharma and Sanjeev Jian took part in the project along with a student of IIT Delhi, Jatin Kewlani.

The device innovated by the team is helpful for millions of people in the society. The device protects the health of people and keeps them away from the consequences of air pollution. While developing the developing the device, the team assembled millions of small pores to create a thin flexible membrane. The membrane has the capability to catch tiny particles with high efficiency.

The product will be soon available in Indian and global markets. The name of the brand is ‘Nasofilters’. With an objective to produce and market the product, the innovators formed a company named ‘Nanoclean Global Pvt. Ltd’.
