The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) has entered into a partnership with NTT DATA Services for supporting and encouraging entrepreneurship among students who have graduated recently and are working on path-breaking technologies. These technologies cater to the socio-economic impact in the fields of healthcare, agriculture, energy, education, and water and sanitation. IIT Kanpur is one of the old IITs and is one of the best engineering colleges in India.
NTT DATA is a global technology services firm and has committed financial support to the Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC) of IIT Kanpur. This news was revealed in an official statement that was released today, on 23rd October 2019.
The Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre of IIT Kanpur was established in the year 2000 after the institute’s collaboration with Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI). The aim of starting this centre was to foster research, innovation, and entrepreneurial activities in areas related to technology. The centre is responsible for overseeing and managing the Innovation Fellowship Programme of IIT Kanpur. The fellowship leverages the experience of SIIC as once of the most successful and popular incubators in the country for a duration of almost two years. The statement said that the centre and fellowship do a great job at promoting a culture of innovation among students who have graduated recently.
The statement released said that NTT DATA will continue to leverage technology in order to help advance research in academic disciplines that can aid in solving human, environmental, and social challenges that are prevalent around the world. An official of NTT DATA, Dr. Harsh Vinayak, spoke on the collaboration during the ceremony of signing the agreement and said that it is their belief that innovative technology can dramatically and significantly improve some of the major socio-economic problems that are faced by India today. He said that such initiatives will prove to be helpful in reimagining and reshaping the world and will eventually act as catalysts in solving problems for the real India.
He further expressed his delight at NTT DATA getting the opportunity for reinforcing its commitment to SIIC through its social programme and the alliance with IIT Kanpur, which is among the best Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). The Senior Vice President of NTT DATA, Neeraj Jaitley, was also present for the agreement-signing ceremony and it was presided by the Director of IIT Kanpur, Professor Abhay Karandikar. Dr. Vinayak and Professor Amitabh Bandopadhyay, the Professor in-charge of Innovation and Incubation at IIT Kanpur, executed the agreement.
