IIT-M Signs Agreement with Queensland University for Joint Research

Indian Institute of Technology, Madras has signed an agreement with the Queensland University of Technology, Australia (QUT) to provide a boost to the research sector.

In a move to boost the research sector, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras has signed an agreement with the Queensland University of Technology, Australia (QUT). Under the agreement, both the institutes will jointly undertake applied research relevant to the industry as well community.

A press release from IIT Madras stated that QUT and IIT-M partnership began in the year 2006 in the field of information security. Now, both the institutes have decided to expand this initiative and lead it to another height. They wish to include other disciplines within this collaboration. The new initiative will mainly focus on projects which are relevant to the industry. It will focus on different areas such as -

  • Information security
  • Combustion
  • Health technologies

Announcing the development, Professor Peter Coaldrake of QUT University said that as a University for the real world, Queensland University of Technology, Australia has always tried to focus on research. The effort, jointly with IIT-M will also focus on research areas that are in every way relevant to the industry and community. The new initiative will help address and solve critical issues that have touched both the countries in some way or the other.

Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director of IIT-M said that that the institute has always been pioneering in industry-driven research. This is demonstrated by their commitment towards establishing the IIT Madras Research Park which brings rich insights of the industry and market. It encompasses the wealth of knowledge from multiple domains & departments. Moreover, MRP has now become a hub of innovation. The new partnership with the QUT will enable them to carry out cutting edge research, which will further lead to innovative outcomes.
