IIT Madras professor creates a business called ‘YNOS Venture Engine’ to help deep technology start-ups. So far, 128 faculty members from premier institutes across the country have joined YNOS Venture Engine initiative.

 

IIT Madras Professor Creates ‘YNOS Venture Engine’ to Help Technology Start-Ups

A professor at IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Madras, Mr. Thillai Rajan has created a unique platform to help deep technology start-ups and SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises). The platform created by Thillai Rajan will help start-ups reach incubators at Indian institutes. ‘YNOS Venture Engine’ is the business created by Mr. Thillai Rajan will accelerate deep technology start-ups. At the same time, the initiative will help SMEs to adopt technology and innovation.

YNOS Venture Engine includes faculty members from different institutes who will help entrepreneurs across the country or globally. Through YNOS, entrepreneurs can identify the faculty member with who he/she would like to work. If the entrepreneur expresses interest in interacting with the faculty, YNOS facilitates the interaction. In all, YNOS Venture Engine is a useful platform for entrepreneurs to utilise the expertise of the research and academic community in the country.

Mr. Thillai Rajan has been publishing popular annual reports on Indian venture industry for a decade now. So far, 128 faculty members from premier institutes across the country have joined YNOS Venture Engine initiative.

Some of the major benefits of YNOS Venture Engine are –

  • Indian higher learning institutes will have a strong potential to engage with start-ups
  • So far, incubation cells of Indian institutes have only focused on start-ups of its students and faculty members. Through YNOS, these institutes can help start-ups outside of their institutes. Latest innovations will come up in the market through this initiative.
  • Indian institutes can contribute to a significant area of India’s economy by providing a direct interface between academia and start-ups.
  • Most faculty members do not get a chance to work on their own business ideas or start-ups. For them, YNOS is a great initiative through which faculty members can mentor start-ups outside the campus.
